Before College
I tried to clear IIT Bombay CS (Computer Science). I went to Banglore unlike Kota, Rajasthan for JEE preparation. But I got too strangled in friendship stuff and got distracted with studies. Well I did rebound, gaining a 12% jump from my previous score (75% -> 87%) but luckily that wasn’t enough for me too even be considered for an NIT.
Sad for IIT Bombday though, they missed a guy like me.
In College
Freshman Year
After disheartened, I joined a tier-III college for engineering, I thought I could still make a difference but I didn’t. I got an offer from IISC Bnglr for a two year program of research for an intercollege basketball game.
Sophomore Year
No life. COVID-19 strike through my heart 💘.
Junior Year
I turned University Graduate Researcher position at Google for an research internship at University of Hyderabad. I skipped classes, used to open 20 tabs at once, and used to absorb all the information like a maniac and mind map them later. Just kidding, I used to work on something else or just watch a great sci-fi movie.
Senior Year
I rejected Apple and Amazon for robotics research at IIIT Hyderabad. The research project got demolished within few months due to lack of proper team. I felt like research was everything for me, I used to stufy 5 papers everyday. More like every week, but yeah whatever. I used a project from my freshman year till senior year, by making small tweaks. It was cool though. I made a seld-driving car in my final year project. Yeah yeah, a navigation system for self-driving car..Ok not kidding..I made a object detection system, that detects signal, sign-boards which in turn could be used for navigation assistance to a self driving car.
I got lots of appreciation from the people on linkedin whom I ask for referral, some said I could be Applied Machine Learning Engineer, one said I could be a Quant Researcher.
A guy from J.P. Morgan was very impressed by resume, and quickly approached me for an introductory call, and I think he said I would suitable for a Machine Learning Researcher, and that my inexperience being doesn’t matter, and I could easily confront 5-6 years exp guy. Well you know, in the next few weeks, I packed my bags, very excited and ready to brag my parents and friends how I got a ML job at such a big firm. But I think he lost my contact, or linkedin connection as he never answered back. Only after three weeks, he said there is a hiring freeze. bad luck jp morgan.
Barclays seems to have a similar problem as well, coz they never revert with an email even after countlessly applying for jobs, referral doesn’t seems to work well. Tiger Analytics, Goldman, Oracle don’t like my face.
After College
I got a job after lot of searching. Guess what, they didn’t like my face too.😂
I know no one’s gonna read it, so just writing it makes more amusing.
love ya
